2-year Fixed Term Contract
Seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager for a project-based contract in Lusaka, Zambia, focused on replacing sewer pipes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Civil Engineering with expertise in water, sewer, bulk water pipelines, reservoirs, and building structures design and construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to the project programme, quality control, and workforce supervision.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in Civil Engineering.
5+ years of experience in:
o Water, sewer, and bulk water pipeline projects.
o Reservoirs and building structures design and construction.
Strong background in construction site management.
Experience in QA/QC implementation and workforce management.
Excellent reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.
Previous experience working on projects in Africa is an advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Site Management & Execution:
Oversee and directly manage all construction activities on-site.
Ensure construction is in line with the project programme as developed by the Contractors Representative.
Quality Control & Compliance:
Implement and monitor Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures.
Ensure all works comply with project specifications, health & safety (H&S) regulations, and environmental standards.
Progress Reporting & Meetings:
Prepare and submit construction progress reports, including updates on ES (Environmental & Social) and H&S matters.
Participate in and present at site meetings to update stakeholders on project progress.
Workforce & Resource Management:
Supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractors, labourers, and site staff.
Ensure efficient resource allocation and day-to-day site management.
Programme Updates & Project Tracking:
Regularly update the project programme to reflect progress vs. time elapsed.
Identify potential delays and implement corrective measures.
