Christian Community Presbyterian Church (CCPC) in Bowie, MD, is seeking a part-time Coordinator of Children and Youth Ministry; responsible for coordinating faith formation activities for congregants from birth through high school graduation. The ideal candidate has a deep appreciation for children and youth and a love for God and neighbor. The candidate’s personal faith and background should be compatible with the Presbyterian Church (USA), embracing diversity in all its forms. The main responsibilities of this position occur in-person on Sundays with flexible and telework options during the week.

Position details
• Part-time/hybrid (20 hours/week)
• Vacation: 4 weeks during the summer/2 weeks after Christmas, plus 2 additional Sundays off
• $25,500 per year

Responsibilities
• Develop and coordinate faith education (Sunday School) for children and youth, including reviewing and selecting appropriate curriculum materials
• Build and support a team of volunteers, including Sunday School teachers, youth group leaders, VBS volunteers, and committee members
• Coordinate & lead a children’s activity for 2 to 6 year olds during the church service (following children’s message)
• Coordinate and/or lead the children’s message during worship service
• Develop and coordinate children and youth programs for congregants aged 18 and under, including mission opportunities, VBS, Christmas Pageant, and retreats
• Lead a regular youth group for 13 to 18 year olds
• Attend a weekly in-person staff meeting, a monthly meeting of children and youth committee volunteers, and communicate regularly with families
• Encourage children and youth participation in worship services
• Coordinate occasional fundraising activities for youth trips

Requirements
• Experience working with children and/or youth
• Friendly personality to welcome and greet diverse families, visitors, and invite them into our community
• Attendance at Sunday worship services, holiday services (Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Easter), and church events
• Team player who can work with families, volunteers, church leadership, and church staff toward a common goal
• Group leadership experience
• Effective organizational skills in order to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and set goals
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must pass criminal background check

Nice to Have
• Experience (paid or unpaid) with children and youth ministries
• Proficiency in using social media and traditional communication forms to promote children and youth programs to the greater community
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree
• Coursework or certification in early childhood, primary, or secondary education
