Traffic Signals Roadworker

We are looking for an Traffic Signals Roadworker that will provide an efficient Traffic Signals Design service to the regional authorities in accordance with City Council strategy and Environment and Regeneration priorities.
Main Duties:
1 To receive and understand written instructions, schedules, plans, diagrams and similar documentation concerned with the assembly and installation of traffic control equipment. Also to be responsible for the completion of all relevant paperwork in accordance with departmental requirements.
2 To undertake the optical maintenance of traffic signals including the repair of basic faults in the regional service delivery.
3 To carry out the assembly of traffic control equipment from component parts.
4 To transport tools and materials, and drive allocated vehicles and light plant as required, undertaking appropriate daily checks and maintaining associated records in the regional service delivery.
5 To carry out site installation and maintenance works including the fitting and termination of cables and signal heads in the regional service delivery.
6 Set out and carry out slot cutting and the installation of detector loops within the highway in the regional service delivery.
7 To undertake traffic management associated with traffic signals functions on the highway in the regional service delivery.
8 To assist Traffic Signals Technicians as required.
9 Building and testing of signal heads for all new installations.
10 To promote and implement the Councils Equality Policy in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
11 To assist in maintaining a healthy, safe and secure environment and to act in accordance with the Councils policies and procedures.
The candidates must have:
Work experience in a civil engineering environment Experience of Ad-Hoc Highways Maintenance Capable of regular heavy lifting, carrying, stooping and able to work outside in all weathers Knowledge of construction related Health and Safety Issues Team worker, able to work with minimal supervision at times Experience of Traffic Management CSCS Accredited Knowledge of safe digging practices in relation to underground services · Experience in setting out and the installation of detector loops within the highway in the regional service delivery. · Experience in the use of a Floor saw, pitch dispenser and bitumen boiler Able to maintain good working relationships at all levels Committed to providing quality service levels Demonstrate skills to promote and implement the Councils Equality policy in all aspects of employment and service delivery
