The Employee and Labor Relations (ELR) team is committed to promoting effective, fair, and professional relationships between the university and its employee groups. The ELR team partners with University leadership and supervisors to administer employment strategies that support the University's mission and strategic initiatives.

ELR is a unit within Human Resources in the Finance and Administration portfolio. Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life. Our employees perform a wide range of functions including offering essential financial tools and support to the university's many departments, providing key resources to employees, and keeping the campus safe, clean, accessible, and beautiful.

Position Summary

The ELR Coordinator position is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in assisting employees and entering the world of Employee and Labor Relations (ELR). This position will have two separate and distinct functions in support of the ELR team within the Office of Human Resources (HR). First, this position will provide assistance in ELR matters, providing support in administering the various collective bargaining agreements and employment policies at UO. Second, this position will assist in the administration of the accommodation process as provided in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

This position is based in Eugene with some level of flexibility including the option to work remotely with frequent commuting to campus. All adjusted work arrangements require supervisor and leadership approval.

Minimum Requirements

• Three years of experience in human resources

• A bachelor's degree may be substituted for two years of experience.

HR experience includes experience in recruiting and hiring; classification and compensation; employee training, development, or retention; employee and labor relations; or administering collective bargaining agreements as a supervisor or HR representative.

• Ability to maintain knowledge of HR best practices and considerations as well as gain industry knowledge in Employee and Labor Relations and matters pertaining to the ADA.

• Ability to interact, communicate, and work effectively with individuals, recognizing and respecting the many and varied identities of each person.

• Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in administering the employment provisions of the ADA (such as the interactive reasonable accommodation process, or equivalent experience relevant to the analysis and application of complex policies or laws, such as workers' compensation programs, leave administration, student accommodations, or social work)

• Experience working in higher education

• Professional HR certification (CP, SCP, PHR, SPHR)

• Experience working in human resources in a unionized environment

• Experience updating and navigating Human Resources information systems (HRIS), such as Banner, talent management, or similar systems.
