VP, Manufacturing is seeking a dynamic, capable, “Lean” / Continuous Improvement / Production / Operations / Manufacturing Manager / GM who is seeking their next promotion to Plant GM..or, presently a Plant Operations Mgr &/or, GM for a successful division/plant (90-100 staff / $100+MM Plant) of a top, privately-owned $650+MM OEM manufacturing (heavy industrial machinery / equipment) conglomerate.

Job Summary:

Plan, lead, organize, and proactively manage Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Inventory Management, Receiving, Shipping, and Facility Maintenance within a matrix organization with both solid line and dotted line relationships with goal of ensuring customer commitments are met for quality and timely delivery.

Essential Functions:

Lead, foster and develop a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing within the company’s plant. Be the “lead” Change Agent and "Influencer".

Lead manufacturing team in weld, assembly, in-process inspection and test, paint/detail, final inspection and testing with the goal of continually improving operations by increasing throughput while simultaneously reducing cost of goods sold.

Develop Operational Goals and Objectives in line with company goals and objectives with an emphasis on quality, cost reductions and productivity improvements.

Plan daily, monthly production schedules in line with company goals for units and monitor performance against plan…taking immediate/proactive action when output does not meet expectation.

Develop robust processes for control of quality with aim of providing established path for continuous improvement in quality and productivity.

Develop effective, robust Inventory control processes.

Document processes in accordance with ISO9001 Quality System requirements and Company Document and Record Control procedures.

Provide training on Company Quality System Processes and monitor performance against the requirements.

Support the Company Safety Program to ensure a safe and suitable work environment for all employees and meeting all requirements mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Standards.

Support the Company Hazardous Material Generator Program responsible for ensuring complete compliance with local, state and EPA requirements.

Investigate process non-conformities to determine root cause and develop proven short and long term solutions.

Enforce all aspects of the workplace organization by ensuring a safe and efficient work environment for all employees, vendors, suppliers and visitors.

Additional Responsibilities

Quality System Management Representatives (2)

Manage all Special Projects as assigned

Manage/direct all Small Group Improvement Activity Teams

Consistently evaluate opportunities for improvements and proactively launch initiatives in accordance with the Continuous Improvement Program / Goals

Manage capital improvement projects

Corporate level purchasing and cost savings’ initiatives

Provide assistance to other departments (R&D, Sales, Product Development Engineering, etc.), as required

Demonstrated ambition to join company who has set definitive “SUCCESSION Planning” in play.

Qualifications - Work Experience / Education & Training/Certifications Required (Must Have):

Degree: Engineering or, Manufacturing Engineering Technology or, Manufacturing Management or, Industrial Technology or, Business Administration equivalent

10-15 yrs’ manufacturing, production, industrial engineering experience....ideally/preferably..... for a medium - large privately owned / entrepreneurial and/or, public company in the OEM &/or HEAVY INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY/EQUIPMENT platforms.

Min. 5 yrs’ continuous improvement programs’ implementation, e.g. Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, Six Sigma, etc.

Min. 5 yrs’ Plant or Production or Manufacturing leadership / Operations /GM experience in busy production manufacturing plant.

Desired / Highly Preferred:

Masters in Organization Management, Engineering or Business Administration and/or, Project Management Certification (PMP)

Lean Six Sigma Master (LSSM)

Six Sigma Green or Blackbelt (SSGB / SSBB) Certifications

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities - Must Haves:

Very strong knowledge of QA Systems, and implementation techniques, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing engineering, Lean Manufacturing Techniques, Manufacturing Operations, Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing, Inventory Control, Cycle counting, Packaging, and Logistics….with a proven track record in implementing cost reduction/process improvement ideas and developing plans to prioritize and effectively resolve outstanding issues.
