Description:



NC A&T State University is seeking to fill a short term (approx. 4 month) contractor assignment to provide IT Support as a Windows Admin in the department of the Division of Information and Technology. The selected candidate will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure and will be accountable for the following systems: Windows systems that support Desktop infrastructure; Windows and Application systems that support Asset Management.



Responsibilities will include:



•Provisioning



•Installation/configuration



•Operation support



•Maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure



Required:



.Minimum 2-year technical degree and at least 4 years system administration experience or a 4-year Bachelors degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science and at least 2 years of system administration experience.



Knowledge/Experience:



1) Install new and/or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project / operational requirements



2) Install and configure systems such as supports Desktop infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications.



3) Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups



4) Repair and recover from hardware or software failures and Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies



5) Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities and Configure / add new services as necessary



6) Upgrade and configure system software that supports Desktop infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs

3) Communicate effectively



4) Research problems and recommend solutions



Preferred and Strongly Recommended:



•Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Microsoft



•Four to six years system administration experience.
