Purpose

Responsible for the general management, design and development of College websites.



Responsibilities

• Create design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content, for the main public College web site and for department websites.

• Ensure that the layout of the content is accessible, logical and easy to navigate.

• Build websites using technologies that conform to recognized international standards.

• Monitor, improve, and update the performance of existing Web sites. Knowledge and experience with installing, configuring, maintaining, tuning, analyzing and optimizing websites in a windows server environment.

• Demonstrate ability to understand and contribute to functional requirements and translate them into technical design and development projects.

• Build web pages using JavaScript, CSS, PHP, XHTML, dynamic HTML and digital imaging applications such as Adobe Photoshop.

• Develop websites using content management system software (example: Drupal) or Sharepoint.

• Build web pages that are browser independent and free of cross-browser and cross-platform issues.

• Must demonstrate very good spoken and written English.

• Must be a person that is creative in problem-solving and displays attention to details.

• Ensure that all web pages meet ADA and FERPA regulations.

• Must demonstrate superior knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques and experience with web database solutions.

• Must clearly document features, technical specifications, and infrastructure requirements for self-produced technical work and overall design.

• Develop and implement mobile versions of the primary College website.

• Assist with the update and performance of the College portal.

• Assist with the development of mobile apps for iPhone, Android and Blackberry smartphones.

• Must adequately secure the website so as to allow users access to confidential files yet secure enough to protect information from hackers or others who may try to steal or destroy it electronically.

• Must meet regularly with the CTO and website oversight committee to ensure that the site is meeting the current and future needs of the College.

• Review statistics and monitor analytics and make recommended changes to the websites based upon the review of this data.

• Implement search engine optimization for deployed web sites.

• Create and deploy animated images on the website using Adobe Flash or other suitable technology.

• Other duties as assigned.
